Remove raid card from xserve late 2009 2.93ghz

I would like to remove the raid card from my Late 2009 Xserve 2.93ghz. I just bought the server and we currently do not use a raid setup. I would like to set the server up to use 3 drives that I can configure in the machine that I have also purchased. I am getting a raid battery error when I turn the machine on and I would like to just eliminate it all together. What all would I need to do to get this accomplished??

Thanks for amy help !!

I have not tried removing the card entirely.

The document describes how to physically remove the card.

I do not know if physically removing the card is sufficient to disable it, or if there are additional steps.

Try it. Worst thing that probably happens is a fault, if anything at all. Operating the server with the RAID controller physically removed probably won't damage the server. But if you can't afford to utterly break the server, get somebody in that deals with the hardware for you, or get some spare hardware. (I've not looked to see if the RAID controller is swapped for a non-RAID controller, for non-RAID disk access. Check that.)

I'd expect the disks might need to be reformatted to be useful without the RAID controller, so have backups of your data before embarking. Always have backups.
